Ohio Strength November Newsletter
Important Dates / Events
11/1 – Huge opportunity to save money!
The open enrollment period begins today for things like HSA/FSA accounts and you might be able to use this to save yourself a ton of money (30% on average). A lot of people do not even realize what an HSA/FSA is or that they already have access to it.
Right now is the time of year when you are able to opt in or make changes to how much money you want to go into those plans. So check with your employer!
If you have access to an HSA or FSA through your employer or elsewhere then you may apply through our partner, Truemed, to receive a “letter of medical necessity” from one of their physicians which will allow you to reimburse yourself for the full cost of your Ohio Strength gym membership and related services using your HSA/FSA funds up to whatever the limit is of your HSA/FSA.
This can lead to SIGNIFICANT tax savings (30% on average) by using those pre-tax HSA/FSA dollars to cover your gym membership rather than your post tax take home pay. Most people are able to qualify for a letter of medical necessity–it is not limited to people that already have health conditions. Do not hesitate to apply just because you don’t think that anything is wrong with you! We had a lot of members sign up for this last year, and we are hoping to increase awareness of it this year. Shoot me any questions that you might have and click below to apply!

11/2 – 12/1 – Rowvember
Similar to Squatober, in November, we will have daily, optional, extra credit rowing programmed for you starting tomorrow 11/2. This is a great opportunity to increase comfort, confidence and skill on the rower in addition to overall aerobic capacity and cardiovascular health with all of that extra Rowing. Grab a buddy after class and knock this out together!
11/9 – we’re observing Veterans Day a couple of days early with our annual “Chad 1000X” Hero workout on Saturday 11/9.
It’s a simple but grueling workout–as always we will have scaling options and partner options so that anyone can participate in this. It will be a fun time to struggle through this together on a Saturday morning to honor those that have served, and then we can grab some brunch with your class buddies to refuel!
11/28 – 11/30 – Thanksgiving Holiday Week Class Hours are updated in Wodify
11/30 – Beat Michigan Saturday – Doors open at Oldfields at 530am with $1 drinks until 7am for the noon kickoff of Ohio State vs Michigan!
Announcements
Complimentary Quarterly Goal Setting Sessions – this is a benefit of everyone’s membership that we’ve always offered, but I do not remind people frequently enough–part of the reason for this newsletter in the first place!
Do you have some specific things that you are trying to achieve related to your overall health, fitness or skills inside of or outside of classes. Or perhaps you’re not sure what you should be focusing on during this current season of life in your health and fitness journey? Using myself as an example here, I used to be very focused on pushing myself to my absolute physical and mental limits and competing, but I’m now far more focused on longevity, my internal biochemistry and generally feeling amazing outside of the gym while having fun with the people I love! This type of seasonal life change and evolution or even uncertainty is so common as we are all constantly growing, evolving and changing.
Goal sessions can help to refine or add clarity to your goals or give you more purpose and direction in your training and healthy lifestyle habits. My goal when I meet with people in these sessions is that they walk away with 1-3 simple things to focus on in the next 90 days to move them one step closer to the person that they want to be.
While we may discuss options for personal training, nutrition coaching or other services if they seem relevant to your goals, that is not the main point of the session–the point of the session is you walk away with some free and valuable options for action items or simply more focus and clarity. So that you can get as much value out of your time here with us as possible.
Goals aside–These can also just be “check-ins”…a general how are you doing and how can I help you more, with zero pressure for any specific outcome if that’s what you prefer for our conversation. It’s always nice to just catch up with everyone, and it’s tough to do that with all of our busy lives, unless we schedule deliberate time for it like this!
In order to setup one of these 15 minute check-ins or goal sessions, just email me!
